6. Judging of the TEXPO Research Competition

If you are entered in the competition:

  • Please review the judging criteria carefully. Information on all awards may be found at: http://www.cmc.ca/NewsAndEvents/Awards.aspx . Each award web page includes a link to the judging criteria.
  • Judging will take place from 12:00 p.m.- 4:30 pm on Monday, September 25. During this period, there will be four sets of judges moving throughout the TEXPO area. You can identify the judges and their guides by their red clipboards–please be courteous and do not interrupt any judges when they are reviewing other demos. The room will be closed during judging, only presenters and judges/judge escorts will be in the room during the competition.
  • If you are entered in a competition, you will have a total of 15 minutes to present your project to the judges. This includes 10 minutes to present your project, followed by a 5 minute question and answer period with the judges. On occasion, judges may ask questions during your presentation. All participants should be flexible in their presentation style and accommodating of any requests from the judges. Please remember: it doesn’t matter how your time is used, the judges will only spend a total of 15 minutes with you. There are typically three judges for each competition (ideally two from industry and one from academia). Each team of judges will be accompanied by a guide (a CMC employee) who will keep the judges on schedule, introduce them to each competition participant, etc. The guides will let you know when you are next, and may set up chairs in front of your demo for the judges.

7. The TEXPO Research Exhibition

  • The exhibition takes place throughout the day on Monday, September 25 and Tuesday, September 26, allowing researchers to showcase their work to academia and industry. Participants may not take down material until TEXPO is officially closed at 4:00 pm. All equipment must be disassembled and removed from the room by 5:30 pm.

8. Presentation of TEXPO Awards

Tuesday, September 26 during lunch
